Concept Industries is a division of Queensland Built Steel Systems (proudly operating for over 40 years).
As a family-owned business, we are able to work to your individual needs and requirements, while providing the personal service that makes the difference.
We design and build custom solutions to your requirements (meeting or exceeding Australian Standards) and can refurbish and modify your bus, coach or motorhome.
John L Cole (snr) Co-founder, 17/1/1942 - 1/4/2017
John (snr) was a Boilermaker & draughtsman by trade since 1958.
John had extensive experience in the coach building, structural steelwork, pressure vessels, storage equipment & product development.
In the 1960’s John worked in the Athol Hedges organisation in the coach chassis section, Bell Bryant’s (lately APV), Queensland Engineering, Tofts cane harvester manufacturing, and Acrow Materials Handling,
John & his wife Joyce then started Queensland Built Steel Systems in 1975, manufacturing mobile steel shelving & storage equipment for offices, including some of Queenslands major hospitals, Archive buildings & other Government projects. They also provided specialist services for high rise buildings in inner Brisbane, and the first Gateway bridge project.
Joyce M Cole – Director: Office & Accounts
Joyce manages the day to day accounts, office requirements & even works in the workshop and has been there since the start in 1975. Before starting out in 1975 Joyce worked extensively in the insurance industry.
John G Cole (jnr) General Manager/Technical Manager
John has been a Coach & Motor Body Builder since 1991, starting with JRA Limited building Denning & Austral types.
John was part of the rollout of the (ADR 59) type (Highlander/Majestic) & Fire Appliances.
In 1996 the Austral Pacific Group was formed where John then branched into the repair, refurbishment, and warranty side of the industry.
After leaving Austral Pacific in mid 1997 John started full time with the family business; Queensland Built Steel Systems, and led the establishment of Concept Industries in 1999.
